FRIENDS get together for a long-awaited break on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne when a surprise visitor turns up.

‘Ladies Unleashed’ continues the life stories of four herring packers from Hull who first met at York Races in the hit play ‘Ladies Day’.

The new drama runs at The Green Room Theatre in Wilmslow, from Monday, May 13 to Saturday, May 18.

Now 20 years later Pearl, Jan and Linda bump into long lost friend, Shelley, who they haven’t seen for years, and their retreat becomes a reunion.

But a lot has changed since they were last together and, cut off from the mainland, tensions rise with the tide.

As the sky darkens, the island grows restless with echoes of the past. Will the four still be friends when dawn breaks?

Director Victor Hassan said: “In parallel the lives of two Victorian herring packers connect with the action highlighting the progress in women’s lives over the last century or so.

“But how much has really changed?

“There are lots of laughter in this story about friendship, growing older and living for today, and a terrific cast of Green Room regulars bring this unusual magical play to life.”

This moving comedy, by Amanda Whittington, is about friendship, growing older and living for today.

The show will be enjoyed by anyone aged 12 and over.

Tickets cost £10 for members and £12 full price.
