KNUTSFORD’S Alfie Jenkinson is aiming to make it into the elite of British motorbike racing – just like his Dad did.

The 16-year-old is already on track to follow in the footsteps of his father Adam, who raced in the British Superbikes Championship and was a consistent contender in the concurrent Superstock 1000 series until his retirement in 2017.

Now, he is supporting his son’s journey as he enters his second season of racing having secured two top-25 finishes in the British Junior Supersport Championship in his maiden year.

“I’m really happy to follow in my dad’s footsteps,” says Alfie, who is this year competing in the Wirral 100 Motor Club’s 100-500 all-comers class as well as the Junior Supersport Championships for North Gloucester Road Racing Club.

“I see my dad as my idol – he has taught me everything I know about racing bikes.

“My dream is to make it into the British Superbikes championship full time in the Premier class in the future but I would also be happy to race within the paddock itself as it would mean I am racing against the best in the country, which fills me with pride.

“My targets for this season are to hopefully win the North Gloucester Road Racing Club Junior Supersport Championship and pick up a few podiums with the Wirral 100.”

Alfie has started the season excellently, guiding his Kawasaki Ninja 400 bike expertly around Oulton Park to achieve his first win at his home track in North Gloucester’s opening round.

An earlier second-place finish means he sits second in the overall standings as the series moves to Cadwell Park over the weekend of April 12-14.
